Organizational Design
The design of military medical checkup facilities is one that is defined by multitude Regulations and field manuals. As the military comprises both tertiary and deployable elements, the design of each is similar, b arely differs in significant ways. The purpose of this paper will be to describe the organizational design of a stateside, medical segment activity (MEDDAC) facility and the factors that influence this design.
Organizational Analysis
All U.S. multitude units are designed based upon the look out over structure. This places the sole right of successes and failures upon a single person, the commander. array command structure or chain of command stems from the President of the United States or air force officer in Chief. His designee, the Secretary of Defense, appoints subordinate secretaries to each of the armed serve (United States regular army, 2010). Within the Department of the Army each major command; infantry, armor, medical, intelligence, etc. assigns a senior commander responsible for entirely subordinate elements beneath them. The Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) and Army Medical Department (AMEDD) are comprised of fixed and deployable units.



Fixed units are those that remain in the United States and provide medical solicitude to Soldiers, their families, retirees, and other authorized beneficiaries (Academy of Health Science, n.d.). Medical centers (MEDCEN), community hospitals (MEDDAC), and heap medical clinics (TMC) are the major designations within the fixed echelon of care.
Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH) is one of many MEDDACs within the Army arsenal. This facility is representative of this level of medical care. Although it is the oldest in term of the physical structure that it occupies, the command and function is representative of the sophisticated Army command philosophy and design.
