1. Page 4: Huey Long was a demagogic left-wing southern governor (and later U.S. senator) who presided over a virtual dictatorship of the land of Louisiana in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He planned to run against President Roosevelt in 1936 but was kill in Baton Rouge in 1935. Here is a connecter to his Wikipedia entry:

2. Page 4: Father Coughlin was a demagogic right-wing Catholic priest with a hebdomadal radio program in the 1930s. His program focused on political and economic rather than religious issues, including regular attacks on Jews and the New Deal.

3. Page 10: Public-choice economics is a branch of economics that applies the assumptions of rational choice and self-interest typically used to study consumer and firm behavior to government agents (politicians, bureaucrats, etc.). The key insight in public choice economics is that policies might prevail that ar not in the public interest because they are in the private interest of government agents.
